ODE

Year of creation

2024

Inspired, by pagan processions, ten performers psalm on stage, tirelessly repeating a choral chant that resembles an insistent prayer. The gestures – like the words – are inoffensive and naïve, but gradually become more complex through repetition and accumulation, producing an almost psychedelic, hallucinogenic effect.

With ODE, Catherine Gaudet transports us into a surreal, exalted universe, imbued with an extreme desire for harmony, coupled with palpable ambiguity. For this new creation, the choreographer offers an unclassifiable work, striking in its singularity, somewhere between sacrificial rite and pop-rock spectacle.
